Pitt Rivers Museum, Oxford

The Pitt Rivers had only been generally accessible via a flight of stairs prior to this project, with wheelchair users having to enter the Museum by the staff entrance in the road around the corner. This project provided the Pitt Rivers with a new entrance, new wider steps down to the main exhibition court, a new vista into the Museum, providing an immediate understanding of the galleries, and a glass platform lift for wheelchair and pushchair users. The information point and shop flank the new staircase down to the galleries, and new display areas have been created as part of the design.
