Coventry History Centre

The History Centre is located adjacent to the Herbert Gallery and Museum and is one of a series of community facilities managed by the Herbert. The History Centre is located at the front of the building and overlooks the University Square and the Basil Spence Cathedral. It is a large space providing access to the Coventry City archives, which are stored directly below the Reading Room in a vast basement archive store. Objects from the collection are transported by lift directly into the Reading and Search Rooms, and the Centre provides a calm working environment overlooking the new landscaped areas and the ruins of St. Michael’s Cathedral.

The project was supported by the Heritage Lottery Fund. Scheduled Ancient Monument.
